Volunteer Opportunities

Start a Literacy Initiative in your organization

(Business, Church, Other Civic and Community Organizations)

If your organization has a student population in mind (i.e. employees, other parishioners, neighbors, students in a school), we can teach your volunteer tutors how to teach adult non-readers to read.  Training consists of four 3-hour sessions over a two-week period.  The training is based primarily on the Laubach Way to Reading.

Be a Volunteer Tutor

If you have a potential student, join us for one of our community workshops at The First Presbyterian Church downtown.

Be an Apprentice Trainer

If you take the tutor training course and have a desire to become a tutor trainer, please let your workshop trainers know.  We’ll be glad to have you on board!

Ad Hoc Board Committee Member

Want to help but don’t have time to be a tutor?  Perhaps you could lend your expertise to one of our board committees.  You don’t have to be a board member to share your energy and great ideas.  Committees available are:  Finance, Programs, Public Relations, Facilities and Special Event Committees (as announced).

Office Volunteer

If you have administrative, computer and or website skills, you may want to lend your expertise in helping us keep our office running.  Duties might include filing, data entry, sorting mail, updating website information or other tasks as needed.
