Literacy Pros of Jacksonville, Inc. was founded in 2003 by a local group of dedicated literacy volunteers. These trainers and tutors were interested in finding new ways to deliver literacy training to the community. Their decision to focus on organizations or agencies that want a literacy project with its own tutors and students has enabled the group to establish other literacy programs. This focus on tutor training has been integral to the success of the Prison Literacy Program, administered in conjunction with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Mission Statement

To train individuals, primarily in Northeast Florida, to effectively teach basic literacy skills and to prepare interested tutors to become Certified Literacy Trainers.
